Happy Pedicure Day! My feet feel so soft and pampered right now.
 Plus, they look super cute!

Hope you all get some pedicure love this week too!

I usually go for pink, but I decided to be different and go red, especially since this is what I'm wearing tonight...

Go Bulls!

Stay tuned an entire week of theme days next week...

Go Bulls!

The Bulls are in the Eastern Conference Finals for the 1st time since the Glory Days (you know, Jordan, Pippen, 3peat, and all that jazz). And they looked pretty good last night in game 1 against Miami, once they stopped giving the ball away like it was their job at the beginning of the game.

Last year they made it to the play-offs (but didn't make it this far) and at one of the games (I was lucky enough to be there), they gave away these GIANT "See Red" shirts.

Seriously, the shirt is almost as wide as the table! You can see how big it is when I put one of my own shirts on top of it. HUGE! So I decided to remake it into something I would actually wear. (By now you may or may not know that when "I" decide to remake something, it really goes like this: Hey Mom, wouldn't it be great if we...)

So here's how my shirt went from something to stuff in the bottom of my t-shirt drawer to something to wear while cheering for the Bulls in the play-offs...

Step 1: Cut out the logo from the front of the old shirt and decide where to place it on the new shirt.

Step Two: Iron some Wonder-Under on the back. I had to put a pillow case over the top to make sure the logo wouldn't melt while I ironed!

Step Three: Mom sews the old shirt onto the new shirt.
(I really should learn how to sew!)

Step Four: Cheer your team on to V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!

GO BULLS!

New Earring Day!

Today was the first official Theme Day 2011, and I FORGOT! I went to school today wearing some regular old (fake) pearl earrings that I wear all the time. Sad.

At least I remembered in time to stop on the way home from work and get these sweet little owls (for some reason, I am really into little birds right now):

Cute, Right?

Here's the rest of my outfit from today. It's kind of a boring outfit - much improved by the addition of the new earrings!

Sweater & Tank Top: Ann Taylor Loft
Jeans: Banana Republic
Earrings: Charming Charlie

New (Old) Shirt

**Don't forget to check out our earring giveaway here**

I have this lovely white tank top with a giant flower on it. I used to wear it all the time - I even thought about choosing it for one of my six items way back in January. It was great for wearing under sweaters or on its own. And I just loved that giant white flower!

See how great?

Well, I wore it so much that it started to get all stretched out and holey. So I decided to re-make it by sewing the flower onto a different shirt. And by re-make it, I actually mean have my mom re-make it because I really can't sew worth anything. I mean, back in the day I did make a pretty sweet vest out of pink pig fabric for an AWANA project and once some (kinda ugly) "love bug" pillows as a Mother's Day gift, but that's about where the sewing "talent" ends! So I headed over to mom's house for a fun filled sewing day (which basically means mom sews and I play games on my phone and look over her shoulder).

Step One (which I did myself):

Gather the 2 shirts.
Cut out the flower from the white shirt.
Just cut right around the edges.

Step Two (with a little help):

Decide where to place the white flower on the blue shirt.

Then pin it in place.

Step Three: Have mom sew the white flower in place.
Or if you are blessed with sewing talent, do it yourself!

And here's the finished product:

Just as cute as the original!

Too Much TV?

Ok, just a little confession...

I've been watching Friday Night Lights on demand on Netflix lately. I am pretty much obsessed. I'm already on season 2 and I just can not stop watching!

The show (if you haven't seen it) is about a high school football team in small town Texas. So everyone has The Accent.

I realized today that I have been watching way too much Friday Night Lights when I told my 1st graders "Y'all need to be quiet now!"

Y'all, I am a completely MidWestern gal - I have never used that word in a real sentence in my life. But it just popped out today! The kids were just as surprised as I was: "Did she just say y'all?"

Does this mean I should embrace my inner Texan, or just stop watching so much TV???

May Theme Days 2011 (& Giveaway)

Around here, my roommate and I (we are both teachers) get pretty excited about the end of the school year:

We are at the 4 week mark - just 20 school days left.
But even with all of this excitement,
we still need a little motivation to make it to the end.

For the past few years, we've invented some theme days to help us finish strong.
Past examples include:
Diet Coke Day, Milkshake Day, Purple Love Day, Headband Day.
Anything that will give us some motivation to get through the day!

So for the next 3 weeks, we will have one theme day each week.
And then the last week has a theme for each day.

This week's theme day is...

New Earring Day!

Pretty self explanatory: Buy yourself some new earrings and wear them to work.
We have the day scheduled for May 4th, but you can choose any day you want to participate.

Now even though not all of you are teachers (or are done with school in 4 weeks),
you are still welcome to participate along with us.

And, to make it a little more fun for all of you non-teachers, I've decided to give away a pair of new earrings!

These pale pink earrings with gold flowers are from Forever 21.
(I promise they are new, even if they don't have the original packaging)

All you have to do to win these cuties is leave a comment telling us about your favorite pair of earrings.

For an extra entry, follow our blog and let us know that you do (or if you already do).

Giveaway ends Saturday, May 7th and open to U.S residents only.

Good luck, and stay tuned for next week's theme day!

Will It Ever Be Spring?

Just when I was thinking I could pack these up...

...the weather had to turn all cold and nasty again.
Seriously, I saw snowflakes falling out of the sky today - IN APRIL!

On the plus side, at least it gave me the chance to wear this great new scarf I just finished knitting.
Check out the sweet pocket!

Fingers crossed for warmer weather soon!

WIWW - In Italy!

I have to confess that this is not what I wore today, and these pictures really do not highlight my outfits, but I just couldn't resist showing off a few of my Italy pictures! I was there for a week over Spring Break, and it was beautiful and amazing. So here are a couple of my favorites...
